So what's with the new pots? I was asked the other day.
In a nutshell it was a decision made a while ago but wasn't the solution we chose first.
We started out originally using a blue plastic tub with a black lid but changed a few years later to aluminium, as the pots we first tried were not easily recyclable.
Aluminium is widely recognised as being recyclable, we found some that were suitable for us and specially lined to protect the product but over the next few years we saw something happening.
I.C.E. is something you can either use sparingly for daily skin care or liberally for injuries but a 100ml pot lasts most people quite a long time. We noticed that the more the pots was used, opening and closing frequently, particularly when small particles of dirt got on them, the thread on the lids would grind a little, discolouring it.
We thought about getting rid of tubs/pots and going to a squeezable tube, which we may still do in the future but then found our lovely new pots and decided to give them a go.
Polypropylene, which is what our new pots are manufactured from, is as recyclable as Aluminium. lots of things including straws, yogurt pots, bottle caps etc. are made from it.
They have the added advantage of being double-walled keeping ICE at a more stable temperature no matter if you keep it in the car, fridge, handbag or just on the side in the kitchen.
A removable inner "Shive" is an added layer of protection to guard against spillage or contamination keeping your favourite cream fresh.
We hope our customers prefer them, they can be re-used once empty too!
